Comment:

It feels strange to be making an optimistic political mix -- & I do know all the arguments for cynicism, believe me -- but for us here in the States, this might just be our only chance in this lifetime to feel a little bit of hope, so I'm saying let's make the most of it.

As the Squirrel Nut Zippers sing here, "sitting this one out would be a crime," so if you think this mix might in any way help inspire someone

to pitch in & pull down the Bush regime, please download, copy, & pass it on - it's available
here , for a limited time only (7 days from posting)
- - or just make your own mix in the same spirit & take it down to the local campaign headquarters.

Counting down til Jan 20 2009!

Everything about this makes me glad. The mix, the sentiment, the way you've explained it. Thanks jdv.

I would opt for the Leornard Cohen song as my favourite although Sly runs it close.

Inspirational. Notice that most of the songs are "older". Wonder why "newer" artists are not riding the peace train as much?

Being cynical is too easy. Without hope, you may as well just pack it in and try again in another lifetime. I applaud this effort.

An inspirational mix for sure. I especially liked track 5 (it is definitely "throw out the bums" time). I also liked the vintage songs you chose near the end. Back in January I made an Obama inspired mix, but mine was more main-stream and not using any of the appropriate songs you chose here. Thanks to your mix, I'm inspired to do another one in a similar vein within the next few months. Here's hoping for a total reversal of our leadership in 2009 and beyond!

now I've got hope AND some mail! thanks for this, Joey d'V. that Squirrel Nut Zippers/ RLJ song was nice, as was the Leonard Cohen. but favorite patches were the 13/14/15 and 19/20/21 bits. my siblings and I wore out our "Free to Be You and Me" LP when we were kids, so it was cool to hear that here. [now we've all got the CD.]

Considering what an ass W is making of himself worldwide, I can't wait for Jan. 20. Though I assume military operations are planned for Iran in December.Very nice mix of artists and you are always a sight for sore eyes round these parts...
