Comment:
I live in Jersey for those who don't know...So, last night it starts snowing and, now, there's something like 20 feet of snow on the ground. Okay, I exagerate...there's like 19 feet of snow on the ground!!! Here, I'm on the second day of my 10 day vacation (thank God!!!!)...and I'm like, "Gnome, what can I do to get more in the spirit of my being on vacay? Well, Gnome, I can throw together a little mix of Hawaiian Exotica Tunes...play it on repeat... while kickin' back sippin' on a Frosty Kona Coffee Drink!" So, I stopped talking to myself in the 3rd person...and Komo'd mai kau mapuna hoe to the vast world of tunes and put this together.Translations: 'Au i ke kai me he manu ala = "Cross the sea like a bird" & Komo'd mai kau mapuna hoe = "Dipped my Paddle In".
Aloha.

Feedback:
Well, you live and learn. I thought Jersey was one of the Channel Islands. But it seems you are referring to that "New" place. In either case it's a long way from Waikiki. As you'd expect I am mystified by most of your selections, but boy do they look good together. Throw in that stunning cover art and you have a winner.I know I want to hear this. Any chance?
Aloha!
This looks wonderful. Is it cocktail hour yet? I bet a certain joey de vivre will love this...
Cor blimey! Know nothing here (as usual) but Im willing to bet it would get me smiling.
And Delaweenieville got at least 18 feet... Felt like 18 feet as I was shoveling, at least. Fine music for a cold white day...
what a coincidence, I'm wearing my grass skirt today. isn't NJ the garden state? a selection from Marty Robbins' Hawaii's Calling Me would make a nice bonus track. as it is, I can taste the pineapple. delicious.
What? No Roy Smeck??? Jus' kiddin', this looks like a mighty fine mix to forget about those dreary winter days . . .
I just want a Frosty Kona Coffee Drink, whatever that is.
Mr. Gnome, you are the master of the musical trip, so I fully expect to see a photo of palm fronds poking out of those Jersey drifts by tomorrow morning. Me and my dad fully enjoyed the Film Noir on the way out to visit the grandparents this morning out in the desert. Drop me a line if sunny Cali calls your name.
This looks really excellent. We only got about 10 inches down DC way. Roads should be clear and dry tomorrow. Enjoy you mix, and you java.
Beautiful. Enjoy the vacation and don't forget your snow block.
Looks good from where I'm sitting.
Am familiar with Arthur Lyman only; not certain what a Frosty Kona Coffee is either. However, it still sounds better than a Frosty Can O' Whoop-Ass.

Now this is how you pack for a vacation.
Mahalo!
Maika'i kau hana! He hana maika'i kau. Mahalo nui loa.
Or as we haoles say, Looking good! Gabby Pahinui is the king!

I would put this one on anytime. New York's A Lonely Town When You're The Only Surfer Around. Very very good job.
great job
This looks fantastic, as always.
Nice tribute to my favorite spot on Earth.
I know pretty much nothing on here, but this looks like an extremely focused theme mix. Great stuff, I'm sure.
Create your own sunshine!
From the coldness of outer space to the warmth of Hawaii -- you got all the bases covered. Snow? What exactly is that? I'm going outside to work on my suntan. Now where'd I put my shades....
Take with a stash of Hawaiian blue then lie back & enjoy!
Never liked Hawaaian stuff that much but this would seem a definitive take on the subject. I think you're due a MOTW!
Oh, it seems so far away..... I'd love to hear this. (btw I highly recommend These Trails if you're concocting a second volume!)
I have to say, I feel sorry for you having that much snow. There's not a lot in this world I dislike more than the cold white stuff (no, not milk). But you certainly got inspired by it, so kudos to you. Like Dom says, this looks pretty definitive!
Mmmm... Kona....
I'd love to hear this, as I know so little of this type of thing...
