Memory's Dagger
Comment:
She couldn't stay in this town another day, not even another minute. Everything in Cedar Rapids reminded her of Bernard. There was nowhere she could go without facing painful reminders of the happy memories they had made together there: Pizza Hut, the bowling alley, Ellis Park, the driveway. The ghosts of euphorias past loomed over her like a grey, suffocating pillow. She had to get out and she had to get out fast. Her first impulse was to head directly to Rapid City to see if she could locate Bernard, for it was the only lead she had. But she knew that she would only be chasing rainbows. She would let fate decide her destiny. Standing on the arm of the threadbare burgundy sofa, she dropped her Rand McNally Atlas to the floor. The heavy volume landed on its front cover with a stubborn thud. She tried again, giving the atlas a little twirl this time. Now it landed open: Alaska! With a sad shriek, she leapt from the couch and landed on her knees, the map of the very largest of the United States of America spread before her. Closing her eyes, she slowly lowered her index finger to the silky page, finally brining it to rest at the place that would be her new home. "I must dress warmly, that's sure," she reasoned. Yet it was equally important that she make a winning first impression. She pieced together the ideal outfit that was at once toasty and elegant, both fashionable and comfy. Within three quarters of the hour, she had packed her bags, sold her cat and was standing inside the Greyhound bus depot with a one-way ticket in her fist - a ticket to a new beginning; a ticket to endless possibility; a ticket to the frosty little seaside town known as Point Hope, Alaska.

A very cold mix.
Boy, did you name this mix right!! Every one of the songs stings my heart. 5&6 kills me everytime!
Bernard, Bernard, Bernard. What a loser. He was probably a lousy bowler. And he probably ordered green peppers on the pan pizza even though you told him you're allergic. What a jerk. Well, I can't imagine a more perfect outfit for your arctic debut. You look lovely! You're going to dazzle them up there in the Land of the Midnight Sun, I guarentee it. I heard Bryan Adams and Juice Newton are still really big there, especially among Eskimo men aged 29-59. Please keep us updated on your new life.
