Comment:

I was thinking about the origins of band names and decided to make a mix around that thought process. (it may have been done already)
While many bands have chosen names based upon movies, books, ficticious and historic characters, breakfast cereals et al., few have named themselves after other bands' songs. Herewith are a few. In the case of the Lighting Seeds, Ian Broudie misheard Prince's lyric from Raspberry Beret ("Thunder drowns out what the lightning sees")but used it anyways. The Spoonfuls copped John Hurt's classic blues tune's final lyric, "My baby loves me 'bout a lovin' spoonful." While there are many more, making a cohesive listenable disc was very difficult. I can promise there will be no Volume 2. Feel free to add those that you know about.

Good idea. I can't remember another mix based on this, although it was a big discussion topic here a while back. Look in the "archived forum" for a thread titled "Know any bands named after songtitles?"

This IS a good idea. And I do have one to add: There is a Japanese band on the Sister/Benten label called Seagulls Screaming Kiss Me Kiss Me.
