Comment:

Another installment of Rubble, Pebbles, Boulders, Nuggets and other Bits and Pieces from the Psychedelic/Progressive 60s and 70s...

Had that opening track in my back pocket for a looong time...can not believe it hasn't graced a mix prior to this. A ton of faves on this particular disc...and a very recent acquisition "The Churchills" which was yet another impossible to locate item for some time. And, as luck would have it...I noticed it graced a blog two days after my acquisition...but, all n' all...still psyched to get it. (pun intented)

A little background: Notes by the illustrious Richies Unterberger (AMG)...The Churchills' sole album is above average for a rare psychedelic late-'60s obscurity, and an important document as the only Israeli psychedelic record to achieve even a bit of an international cult, but not as interesting as some of the buzz generated on the collector's circuit may have you believe. Heavily influenced by both West Coast psychedelia and late-'60s British hard rock, there's often a Jack Bruce-type resonance to the vocals, and a garage-Doors vibe to the guitar-organ interplay and spacy-but-somber lyrics. Sometimes they let more of a Middle Eastern element into play, as on "Subsequent Final," a mandolin tune which sounds like a psychedelic hora dance. The CD reissue adds four bonus tracks from early-1970s singles, including covers of Led Zeppelin's "Living Loving" and the Beatles' "She's a Woman," that are more run-of-the-mill hard rock.

Can there be more? Apparently so, and muiscgnome has them all. Another startlingly well presented piece of musical history. Hey, Pentangle are on there -- now that's nostalgia.

More of the stuff I love. This one has a few more tracks I'm not familiar with than the last two in this series. Cover art is exceptional, as always.

Your output is tremendous. I have this image of the music-gnomes hard at work in their lair, pounding out psychedelic mixes for the world to hear.

Again, wow! The sort of mix that males me so glad this site exists, because it always shows me that there's so much stuff out there I need to get to know! Good Pentangle pick and it's always nice to have the 13th Floor Elevators on there.

Yummy! Lotsa lovable stuff -- The Cyrkle (has anyone actually seen the Minx?), Fleur de Lys and Creation especially. That 60s TV Themes mix sounds intriguing.

I think the box set should get MOTW. There might be something else out there, and I am hunting, but this is the title that keeps coming to my attention.
