Comment:

And, to far more important things...the tumbling shall continue!!!This double-disc installment, obviously, focuses on the wonderful underground psychedelic music of Brazil. For reference, I will go to the very same source as AMG: The Brazilian Psych liner notes of Stan Denski. Who explains,"the mid- to late '60s were the days of General Humberto Castelo's dictatorship, which made any musical activity a political act. Those were also the days of the Tropicalia movement, and if the artists on this collection never had the exposure or appeal of people like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso (whom are also represented), they don't escape their influence. Then again, "psychedelic" means a lot of British and American pop entered the ears of these young Brazilian musicians...Imagine Tropicalia percussion, flute, and Portuguese lyrics backed by loud fuzz guitars and hard-rocking rhythm sections."E, cheers a isso!As always much thanks to fellow AoTMers for contributions! And, if I may, a special "Shout Para Fora" to Moe for pointing me to a recourse which helped fill numerous gaps.A tudo, aprecfe!

Ahhh the wonders of Brasil, i'm very keen to learn more about its musical heritage. Im familiar with some of this but not nearly enough. Love that Veloso song, Portastatic did a reasonable cover of it a while back. Eu amo o Brasil!!!.

As per usual with your more exotic output, I don't know much here, but I'm sure it's good, and it's a genre that I'd love to explore more.

It's beautifully done; it's comprehensive and exceedingly informative -- but it's all too much...no really, it is...the horizon looms ever further...
