Comment:
Despite being insanely busy at work these days, the show must go on...The Third Rock Tumblin' Excursion into GermanAnd here's a little background on one of these selections:Os Mundi - Latin MassNotes as per www.alexgitlin.comJust as Electric Prunes and Eela Craig did before and after them, Os Mundi from Berlin converted a Latin mass into the progressive and/or psychedelic rock format. Os Mundi was the brainchild of Udo Arndt. On the first album they were helped by guests Hartmut Seidel (bass) and David Kalckreuth (organ). The album was a tour de force with heavy, powerful guitars and garage organs. It had a dense, raw production, sinister atmosphere and made clever use of studio effects. Indeed, its dark atmosphere could easily be associated with a black mass, instead of a Latin mass! It sounded a bit like early Uriah Heep or Vanilla Fudge with similar, opera-like vocals. The second album, "43 Minuten" (recorded at Audio Studios in June 1972 with Konrad Plank) was a very, very different work. It was a more "mainstream" progressive rock recording, drawing more from jazz, folk and contemporary West Coast rock. Highlights of this album included "But Reality Will Show", a H÷lderlin-like ballad with the use of cello, and "Ersticknbungen", a tremendous instrumental blow-out with gutsy, heavy guitar play from Udo. He later became a renowned rock and new wave record producer and engineer (Ian Cussick, Munchener Freiheit, Morgenrot, Steinwolke). Nowadays he's employed as an engineer and producer at the Audion Studio in Berlin.
Feedback:
You owe it to the site to compile these for download! We'd all be better off for it. That said, I can only guess that this is as interesting as it (and your notes) looks.
Way over my head with this one but so is baseball apparently....
The Rock keeps on tumbling! Im with the Allstars, A bit of linkage might stop me from scratching my head. Your notes have me intrigued sir.
Looks fucking great!! Wish I knew what some of these artist were.
I'm in.... Looks great!
Only know the Wegmuller and Popol Vuh on this one [oh, Gaa! make that 3, then]. I'm sure this is suitably mind-expanding, tho. Great stuff.
Fantastic. Keep teachin'.
I'm waiting for the book my friend & accompanying sampler! Extraordinary stuff.
I'm thinking this would be right up my street but to be honest don't know anything here.

Completely lost on this but my admiration for these compilations never fail.
Ever intriguing... I'd love to hear all of these comps.
I know nutting. That, however, doesn't mean this couldn't be great...
