Comment:

For Beth. This mix ends with I Surround You Naked (solo Pollard), Wondering Boy Poet (Suitcase version), and Don't Stop Now (from Under The Bushes Under The Stars), but artofthemix doesn't allow more than 30 tracks on a mix. I went overboard and crossfaded everything for 'conceptual unity'; I fear that just makes it harder to put these tracks on other mixes. Hardcore fans might bristle at me not including any Half Smiles Of The Decomposed or Vampire On Titus tracks, but these are the songs that struck my inner pop junkie the most.

Not bad, but Vampire on Titus is essential GBV.

Nicely done. Leans a bit heavily on Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes -- by far their best 2 albums, but does result in giving the shaft to an awful lot of other highlights (though "Shocker," "Teenage FBI," "Glad Girls" and "Don't Stop Now" thankfully made the cut). Any GbV loyalist can argue over which of Pollard's 2 billion songs to include; I, for one, couldn't live without "Pop Zeus" or "Postal Blowfish." Of course, capturing the essence of GbV is pretty tough, given the number of albums, box sets, side projects, etc.; I tried it a few years ago (a href="http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=30329">http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=30329), but desperately need to add a volume 2.

Agreed...your mix is also a good introduction. Looking over the mix, I can't believe I didn't include Postal Blowfish, 16 Cheerleader Coldfront, or Alone Stinking and Unafraid. Ahh well, it's not wise to split hairs.
