Comment:
From the moment I heard Chaka Khan's voice piercing the stratosphere in the thrilling horn-punched intro on "Once You Get Started", I was smitten. She's a diva who may not have the best fashion sense (below) but has a stellar ranking for hits with more than three decades in the business. I saw her perform just last week and it was one of those rare concert moments: an adoring crowd, a flawless outdoor setting, and a bravura performance all in perfect harmony. (Ok, except the first song. There obviously was no sound check and Ms. Thing sounded whack until settings were adjusted). Anyway, these songs are mostly the beloved hits from her Rufus days forward. Her style is inimitable and her range still fierce as ever. I'm an admitted Chaka-holic!Click the link above to see a short video I shot at that special concert (I was too far away to capture her clearly, but the sound paints the picture well).

Definitely a one-of-a-kind voice. (Wasn't that Tina Turner's outfit from Thunderdome?)
