A second mix for my love, from May 2006. He kinda hates the New Found Glory track but loves that I sing along exuberantly to it. What's love if not putting up with cheesy pop-punk?Feedback:
Good Joni Mitchell pick.
I won't lie - as much as I like New Found Glory and their cover EP, that song kinda clashes with the tone of the other 16 tracks. But still, I'm glad someone who likes Sigur Ros and Nick Drake is also able to see the good in pop-punk, so this should be cause for celebration. This is a strong mix - it flows well thanks to the pairing/sequencing of the artists, not to mention the quality of the songs
i'm with mike - "asleep" would have made a choice closer, & the NFG track really clashes with the rest of the songs. but your heart was in the right place, & personal connections is kind of what the mixing thing is all about, so no complaints can be made. with that said, you've got some absolutely fantastic song choices here, esp. the aforementioned smiths track, the loud reed, clash, death cab, nick drake, rufus wainwright, talking heads... the whole thing is really great. i'm sure he'll love it.
