Comment:

My latest alt-DJ collaboration, this time with the supremely estimable (and criminally overlooked/seriously underrated around these parts) pf. I took the odds, he took the evens, and it was a rollickingly subdued ride to an uneasy nirvana. Title from Mr. Waits.

Well, once you start a song with "Fox On The Run," nowhere to go but down... yet still holds together nonetheless. I like seeing Wings' underrated Back To The Egg make a rare appearance in particular.

' . . . for fox sake . . . !'

Lots to enjoy here (8, 9, 10 is a great stretch), but sorry, for me Soft Cell's bedsitter is one of the worst things that they ever released . . .never mind cos 19 to 23 is also a belter section . . .

Haha! I was wondering what you'd put between Mr. Pop and Ms. Watley. Nicely done, Rob. Thanks again for the opportunity to play this Alt-DJ game and I can't wait to hear the final product myself. Fun!

Really excellent stuff here, guys - good work! I very much agree with mr. slippery over there about alt-DJ collaborations and the genre-mixing they tend to produce - it's always really interesting to see. Good choice on the Beat Happening, and love the Thompson, Waits and Minutemen too!

I don't understand "seriously underrated." Do people around here have "ratings"? ;-)

Looks like I have a rival for the title of 'Most Prolific AOTM Alternator', which is great news if mixes like this are appearing. Love the 15-17, and I've always quite liked Bedsitter. I'll be keeping a more vigilant eye on Pf's mixes from now on...

This is one of the more interesting collaborative efforts I've seen posted here. Not often that Jody Watley, Wings and Stereolab are seen at the same party.

Who the heck is pf? He must be good. I'm thrilled to see Cypress Hill, Wings, and JB Lenoir together. Wait are those all odds? Oh yes and 20, 22, 24 as well. (kidding). Teamwork prevails!
