Comment:

I know I broke a rule by including two songs by the same artist, but since Bruce is my hero and I can't give this mix to the girl I figured I can do whatever I want :-) It was nearly 80 mintues long before I realized it was too long winded and needed to be shorter. Created to be a journal of sorts chronicling my growing infatuation over the last year with a girl I've known for years and who I let get away. She's now living with her boyfriend. Suggestions are welcome, as I wish to improve my mixing skills by visiting the site!!! - Update, 9/13 - I inverted the placement of tracks one and two after thinking over a suggestion by French Connection. Burying Message in a Bottle anywhere else didn't work, but I think this way the second track is up a notch from the first and it's a bit better flow. Suggestions?? They're always welcome, I promise.

nothing wrong with using two songs by the same artist - i'd say flow & cohesion is more important than forced variety, esp. if it doesn't feel right. this is a great batch of songs though, & hopefully you'll get the chance to give it to your girl sometime soon.

I'm beginning to think that the whole 'no two or more songs by one artist' rule is crap. Anyways, a very nice selection of music you have. (kinda yoda!)

Screw that rule. If a song fits, add it. This is a really nice mix. If you like Ani DiFranco...not that it would fit here but it goes with the unrequited theme...try the song "Unrequited"...lol see?

A thoroughly enjoyable mix. I was unaware that there were "rules" about these things. I'm sure there are many pre-conceptions and pretensions and a whole host of words that begin with pre. If the mix works for anyone, that's good enough for me. But hey, what do I know...

Couldn't agre more with the others re the 'Rules.' Like the look of the mix, though to be honest the opener seems kinda outta place, "But hey what do I know?" to quote the inimitable monsieur Nomates.

I love how Nomates always concludes with a little self-depricating humor, lest we think he takes himself too seriously. But on to your mix, (1) I've got a sudden craving for Message In A Bottle. (2) using two songs from the same artist is extremely sophisticated in my opinion. And (3) yes, unrequited love sucks.

f**ck the rules & f**ck Nick Hornby. If you want the same artist twice, thrice then use it. Actually the only rule I do have is I won't use the same artist side by side. But you do as you want, it's your mix and there is no one on this site who can you kick you out.
