Comment:

The title of this mix comes from the song "Rudderless" by The Lemonheads.

This is a mix that I made for a friend with whom I decided to swap mixes. This mix has been made/deleted/re-made at least three times - this is the final edit. The song "Llorando" by Rebekah Del Rio is an acapello cover of the song "Crying" by Roy Orbison, and it is extremely haunting. I decided to make it first as a sort of punch in the face, and it turns out that it works very well with the orchestral arrangement of "The Universal" by Blur.

The Grizzly Bear song was a re-add after having been cut. It most recently replaced the song "Drink TO Me Babe, Then" by A.C. Newman which I forgot that I have already used on another mix. While the two songs are drastically different, both fit in very well between the Wilco and Smiths songs.

As a happy accident on revamp #2, I discovered that "Such A Lovely Thing" by DeVotchKa and "Mr. Clarinet" by The Birthday Party segue into each other perfectly. I couldn't have planned that better if I tried.

I also broke one of my cardinal mixtape rules by repeating artists (The Lemonheads), however I felt it was necessary for tying the two halves together. Also, "Bit Part" is only 1:51, and is the cutest song I have ever heard.

The only reason this particular mix is on cd is that I do not currently have cassette making capabilities. There is currently no cover art for this mix, as I have not yet drawn it. But, I think that it will have something to do with a ship (or a little tugboat). Here is the MS Paint version of my cover art (I was not paying attention and managed to jack up my own title, oops).

You notes are most enlightening; they enhance this excellent mix."The only reason this particular mix is on cd is that I do not currently have cassette making capabilities." You appear disappointed by this. Oh well, to each their own. I look forward to the promised cover art.

I am quite disappointed about not being able to make actual mix tapes. I have a lot of stuff on vinyl and cd that I don't want to put on my computer, solely to make mixes.

Plus, tapes are fun!

And thank you much for your lovely compliments.
