Comment:
This is it! My Country Rock Saga is over! Had to end with this, a personal favority, done by many in many differing styles. Thanks for watching my progress my AOTM friends!Country Rock: Little Spencer Boys July/September 2006 Page 12/12
Willin':
Written in 1970, "Willin'" was a mainstay of Little Feat, the band Lowell George had helped to found in 1970 and was a leading member of until his death on June 29, 1979. The song, John Tobler contends in the liner notes of As Time Goes By. The Very Best of Little Feat (1993), "quickly became a favorite among America's truck drivers, many of whom continue to regard it as the anthem of their profession . . . although absurdly it never has been a hit."

Yow - that's a big finish!
& speaking of truck drivers' anthems - seems like the ideal way to audition this whole 12-volume ste would be barreling down the highway all night in an 18-wheeler, with maybe one or two truck stops along the way - let's try it!

Yes. YES!
Never could decide whether to believe it or not, but legend has it that Lowell showed this song to Frank Zappa when he was in the Mother's and Frank said "If you're going to write crap like that, go form your own band."
Well, you know that I'm loving this....
I have a Byrds version as well circa 1990
Lowell was essentially dismissed for two reasons:
1- drug use
2- abundance of talent that FZ quickly recognized and encouraged to grow

I'm way behind the comments here, but I really really really dig this. This is one genre of music I've really started to like in the past several months. I'll have to take a look at this more closely and think about making a copy of some of it. Great work.
