Comment:

(Again, this is a 2 CD set, not cassette). Like They Might Be Giants, I find so much of Sparks' material so good (particularly from this era) that I found a one disc compilation to be impossible. "Kimono My House," "Propaganda" and particularly "Indiscreet" get a lot of representation here, while their first two records, "Sparks" and "A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing," are only represented by a handful of tracks, so I suppose this collection is a little uneven. And purists may point out that I completely ignored 76's "Big Beat," but I find it doesn't really sit well with these tracks (too produced, I guess). Anyway, I think this is a decent sampler of Sparks' early years, with a wide variety of material...and hooks! Sparks fans are hard to come by, which is very unfortunate. They're one of the most underrated bands on the planet. (Anyone who can write a pop song called "Tits" and make it not sound smutty, but rather bittersweet, deserves mass exposure.)

Sparks early albums are often overlooked. I happen to love 'em. Talent Is An Asset has one of my favorite bass riffs of all time. Glad to see other fans on the site.

just fabulous....these gleeful pervs were an integral part of my youthdom, and it's great to see that someone went and made a mix for 'em. (and as much as i HATE it when people pull the ol' "..what, no _______", i have to say here: "what?! no "barbecutie"?!)

Sparks are easily one of the greatest bands ever, and I still can't figure out why no one has ever heard of them!
