Comment:

I'm not sure why I never submitted this before. I compiled this a few years back for (I think) my birthday. We're far enough away from the '80s now where I think I pretty much know which pop songs from that decade have stood the test of time for me. Some have, some haven't, but this is definitely the cream of the crop for me. I haven't grown tired of hearing these songs, all of which hold special memories for me, and I doubt I ever will. I have planned a second volume, as well as a volume of more alternative fare, but for now, this is just my favorite pop hits from the decade.

And yes, I realize "Cars" is from 1979, but it was a hit single in the U.S. in 1980.

NOTE: For this version of "Steppin' Out," I grafted the drum machine intro from the single edit onto the full length album version (which crossfaded in from "Target").

Very cool selection here! I particularly like the tracks from Idol, Numan, Lennon, REM, Blondie and U2. Not a BIG devotee of '80s pop, but I've always got time for some of it! :D

P.S. I dig your user name! (I'm a big "Ghostbusters" fan.)
