Comment:

Name-dropping. It's something we all do, and most musicians do it. Some of them go as far as to include it in their songs, though some are more subtle than others. Here are a few that either reference other artists in the song title or in the song itself, or both.

Damn you! Now the mix I made a week or two ago, but couldn't (and still can't) submit yet due to, ahem, unfortunate external circumstances is going to look like a cheap rip-off of yours.
Personal bitterness aside, this looks pretty great.

This is a brilliant idea for a mix and very, very well done. 'I Know where Syd Barrett Lives' has to be the most cool title that I've heard in months - is the song as good as the title? :-)

Great idea, great mix! Check out Damien Youth's "I Know Where Robyn Hitchcock Lives"; it'd make a great closer.

Good idea, brilliantly executed. Jeffrey Lewis' Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song would have fitted in nicely alongside the Leonard Cohen as it namechecks Leonard and the song in some detail. that doesn't in any way detract from this excellent mix. It's very easy to sit here and say 'where was...'

Brilliant but I'm experiencing similar sour grapes to ofthaltned as I've got one of these on the back burner too although it's safe to say this kicks it's ass.

Nicely done. I use to name-check a lot when I was in high school to sound cooler and hip... I was such a snob back then!

I think name dropping is not only perfectly natural, I love it when my famous friends mention my name behind my back. There is no greater pleasure. Good job.

Nice mix - but any name dropping mix should consider including 'Pop Songs Your New Boyfreind's Too Stupid to Know About' by Tullycraft. Ultimate in indie name dropping.
