Comment:

here's my standard annual christmas mix that i will be sending around to the family & friends i unfortunately didn't have the extra cash to bestow my holiday spirit onto this year. i actually had to sell my $500 guitar for about half of what it was worth just so i could get some gifts in time for my parents, brother, girlfriend & best friend (hey, who says i'm selfish?) -- & even that barely covered it. i quite like this though, & i'm sure those who receive it will be grateful for the unabashed christmas spirit i've instilled here -- lots of obvious choices that can qualify as guilty pleasures (if your heart isn't warmed by the cheesy intro to bruce springsteen's take on "santa claus is coming to town," you have no soul), yet lots of tracks that i had to scour around for. i've been trying to get my hands on ryan adams' christmas 7" for a while now, & i have to say i'm pleasantly surprised with not only his christmas song, but the excellent b-side ("ah life"). for the most part, i turn off my music snobbery when compiling these types of mixes, & i'm sure anybody who doesn't consider themselves a scrooge would do the same (though i did add in the tom waits track to be cheeky). truth is, christmas time is my favorite time of the year, & i'm just excited as hell that it's here. happy holidays, everybody. (p.s. the title is from the rufus wainwright tune.)

this should do the job nicely (shame about the guitar, though). Haven't heard Cash's Silent Night ... Waits does an inspiring version.

Shame about your guitar. This mix looks a lot like the Christmas mix that *I* posted a few years back ("And the wrong shall fail and the right prevail"), down to your Tom Waits pick. ;-)

Happy Holidays back. looks real nice. Johnny Cash's voice wrings incense, gold and myrrh from the carols.

My Christmas would be improved immeasurably if it were possible to get this mix piped into every shop I go in for the next month instead of the usual stuff, which in my more paranoid moments, I feel has been hand picked to annoy me. Excellent work, and a merry Christmas to you and yours.

I appear to have let this excellent festive selection slip through the old radar. I hereby bow my head in shame. This is a cracking collection, and your notes should be a lesson to us all. Yes indeed, Christmas is a fine time of year for all those wonderfully "human" reasons. I am reassured. Looks like all will have a good time in Anthony's world this yuletide. All the best to you.

Father Christmas always makes me sad, because I first heard it from the first heartbreaker.

Excellent mix; I love to hear Johnny Cash sing "Silent Night"
