Comment:

i started a summer mix a few months ago, hoping that maybe some sunny pop tunes could shine a bit of light on my world during what have been the darkest, roughest couple months in many, many years. 90% complete, it sits unfinished, as i couldn't be bothered to really half-heartedly force those songs on my ears. this is the result of me coming to terms with how i really feel: one foot firmly planted in the past, mournfully glancing back, & one foot firmly planted in the future, looking ahead & moving on with a hopeful eye. wistful, autumnal, folky pop tunes underlining my longing for summer to close & my new life to commence.

thanks to salman for the marianne faithfull track, & thanks to colleen for the vashti bunyan track & the cover art. title courtesy of the inimit@ble john darnielle.

Absolutely gorgeous, Anthony. Coming to terms is a good thing, man. I especially LOVE that Fleet Foxes track. (my favorite off of that album by a mile) and that particular Radiohead song has been getting a lot of airplay in bufo-land these days.

One foot in the past and the other in the future is how I live my life, and honestly, I think it's very healthy. I hope you're feeling better and continue to do so as summer turns into autumn. Having said that, this is a gorgeous mix and I actually gasped when I saw the title. Beautiful.

Life is hard and then you die. All kidding aside, did you get to hear She & Him at the Newport show? Thanks again for the okkervil river and the Micah.

this is a great mix, but damn don't listen to it near any sharp objects. "If Winter Ens" is a great first track.

why are the mountain goats so perfect for everything? anyway, looks good. i hate summer, so making cheery summer mixes is out for me (unless by request) but you have done a fine job.

Can not wait to give this a listen, Anthony. thanks for upping it, and you're more than welcome for the Marianne song. Infact, thank you for the song! I've been getting into her albums lately. That 17 to 23 stretch looks really good.

when things turn shitty, I always try to remember that the future usually has some exciting new thing just around the corner... and then I can look forward to that. but you and I are both looking forward to autumn. the She and Him track is probably my favorite here, but the 15-18 bit is sad and lovely. also really liked your picks by Dick Swift, Vashti Bunyan, Marianne Faithfull, Fleet Foxes and Radiohead. thanks for sharing this one, Tony.
