Comment:
Some mixes come about in unexpected ways --
I had been thinking of doing a BABY mix for new parents J. & N., -- but if you've ever tried that, you know that the lyrics of most love songs addressed to "baby" come out sounding really wrong if sung to a real baby (baby don't do me wrong, baby be good to me, etc.), so I was not doing too well with it --
& then I thought of this old standard, though until then I hadn't even remembered that it's about getting things for your baby, and discovered that it works really well as sung from parents to the new arrival -
& then I realized that I had a whole lot of versions of it on hand, and that they make up a whole mini-musical history, complete with musical cross-references, as when Ella Fitzgerald does her performance including imitations of Rose Murphy & Louis Armstrong doing their own unique takes on it.
23 variations of the same song, but each one quite different; the new parents liked it, and as they said on behalf of new baby R., "right now she doesn't really need anything but love"!

Feedback:
I have a word to describe my reaction to this mix; and the word is wow! What a pity that such an eminently suitable word for such a terrific single-song mix, with such a worthy genesis, has been appropriated by several million online gamers; and has now become an acronym for RPG heaven. Ah well, I stand by my initial response -- wow!
Excellent effort! I believe I have a version with Ella and Louis.
Way to go joey, because new parents need mixes they can listen to at all odd hours when snookums does not want to sleep. Exhibits are still on the fritz, but this deserves a spot in "Never Too Much of a Good Thing." Who are the Hot Club of Cowtown?
it's heartening to know that there are still new arrivals to planet Earth who are being introduced to a classy range of music by some of the greatest artists from the early days of musical recording. Well done.
Cute idea.
this is neat
I got a little drool sittin' on my chin too, Uncle Joey. Swell present!
splendid stuff!
That's all you've ever given us j d v..! Sentiment and style points thru' the roof. (As always.)
Very cute ( the baby ) & very cool ( the mix ). Thanks once again for this...
What, you don't think "Hit Me Baby One More Time" is an appropriate lyric for newborns?
Looks fabulous, but what about Eno's "Baby's On Fire"? Can't see anything wrong with that one either. I can't give you anything but positive feedback (and sarcasm) for this fine mix.
Some time ago, made a mix for a friend for the same reason. It sucks in comparison. Which got me thinking. Why such the disparity? I came to the conclusion that two factors may be at play. A. You are a better mixer than I. B. your friend be worthy of THIS far better mix. I know the first is true and would be willing to place money on the latter. This is the only mix I've made for "non-close-friend" for "gift" purposes. It will be the last such time I do so. And, if my mood changes, I'll stick to experimental avant noise rock mixes (that baby's would absolutely love...I am quite sure)
That baby clearly LOVES the mix - job well done, Sir!!
mission accomplished!
This looks like it was lots of fun.
Absolutely wonderful as always.
Ohhhhh, you are so sick.
