if you look at my profile page, you'll notice that my last romantic mix was my very first one here, months & months ago. my love life has been a roller coaster over the past couple years: after struggling out of an emotionally abusive relationship (translation: i was sick of being cheated on), & breaking my current engagement at the time, i left a two year relationship & slowly crept into a when harry met sally situation, finally ending up in a romantic relationship with my best friend. this is enough to drive any sane man batty.

i'm pretty sure anybody with their fair share of common sense could guess that the get fresh flow series was intended for said friend-turned-lover (one look at the tracklistings for each makes it blatantly obvious), so what i'm doing is putting that series to rest & continuing in a more open vein. the only real differences between that series & the new one is that i at least started each of those mixes before we got together -- so while they had romantic overtones, they were subtle & subliminal; these new ones will just be less cryptic, as any normal mix of this kind would be. oh, & of course the titles will be different.

i'm overall only so-so in my reception to the finished product here: there's little cohesion & there's alot of jumping around from lightweight, tossed off songs (the two beatles tunes, the paris sisters track) & songs with more depth (oasis, bob dylan); then there are songs that are just about optimism, & the romantic idea of breaking away (bruce springsteen, tom waits), which might not even be aesthetically correct for this type of mix. that's sort of the point though, as this first mix isn't meant to be a major statement, but just meant to sort of bridge the gaps. oh well, i think it turned out okay; however, the upcoming mix is in the pipeline (which is meant to be finished for valentine's day), & it's turning out very much to my liking. anyhow, enjoy!

title from the field mice track, & a very special thanks to rob c. for the graham coxon closer.

Well, I think it would be hard for anyone to kick off a mix with 'Thunder Road' and proceed to make a bad one. And of course you haven't. Great picks throughout. Love the Field Mice choice alonside the Blur, Dylan, Cash, Zobies etc
Glad you're love life is A-Ok as well!

This looks really lovely, Anthony. That whole "harry met sally" situation is a rough ride, I know. (I may be headed down that road myself after the dust settles for me). Are you the same anthony lombardi that posts on ILM occasionally? (I've been a lurker over there for a 2-3 years now, I guess).
