Comment:
The Valisian Psycle: An ongoing series of mixes inspired by (and in Tribute to) Valis; a means of saying "thank you" for his tireless promotion of present-day psychedelic music and for the numerous psychedelic publication recommendations he has made during the time I have come to know him.Another in the series, seventeen more acts worthy of (re)investigation. Though a number of personal faves are represented, the real joy in putting this together were the addition of some "new-to-me" artists, which came as a result of my perusing Psychedelic-Music.Net Yet another recommendation by Mssr. Valis, the Psychedelic-Music.Net introduced me to an abundence of today's lesser-known (but well worth getting to know) psychedelic acts. Scenic, Aspera Ad Astra & Donovan's Brain are three examples (amongst MANY found throughout this series), which FULLY reinforce the fact that artists are continue to explore new ground, while tilling all that is right with the classic late-60s/70s psychedelic movement.Hope you enjoy.Feedback:
you never cease to pique my interest -- this is no exception. only know a few here, but as usual the rest has me digging up my music-searching programs.
I'm with anthony on this-off to Rhapsody I go.
I'm likin' what I'm seein'....
Enlightening though at the same time daunting, as you yet again serve to emphasize I know even less than I thought about this fantastic genre. Hence it's not just the artists who, "Continue to explore new ground." Merci beaucoup for this one Chris.
Tracks 9, 10, and the last three are the only ones that I know but all five of them are awsome. judging from there inclusion, I will need to check out the others.
F**kin' awesome! As great as these tributes are they are merely a hint at the generous spirit that is Valis Hertel. All hail Musicgnome! All hail Valisian Psycle! All hail Valis!
Uhm, oh yeah, love the Hash Jar Tempo, Aspera Ad Astra, Octopus Syng and Paik tracks especially.
A worthy paean to the reigning god of psychedelia!
I know only 9 and 10 but the balance, as always, looks intriguing.
only 2 bands I know. Another splendid offering I should imagine!
Mostly unknown to me, but I'm fascinated...
A continuously fascinating box set from which this volume - and prior and subsequent volumes come from. A mindblower actually. Has to be seen to be believed. Thank you 'Gnome!
What FC said, gnomesan, what FC said.
again, 'what do I know ?'I'll try to learn from this, but wow! You've sure done good for Msr Valis.
Another winner here Chris. Know a couple! Moose, Spiritualized and BJM are three faves. Valis' site is nothing short of incredible... Hats off to you both :)
Very cool. Like most of your mixes, the ones I know are consistently good so I want to hear the ones I don't.
