Comment:

A super-quickie that came together yesterday afternoon, after posting "there has to be an upside". I wanted to try and get back to just doing a regular mixed genre effort after the last two or three that I've done having been pretty heart-wrenching efforts. Gotta say I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Thanks to valis for the tip on the Grails and musicgnome for the GHQ track. Ok, onto some mix notes. The Black Mountain track was picked up from their Myspace page. Really great live version of that song and my most wanted band to see live.Dixie Witch's cover of "The Bomber" by Akron's own, Joe Walsh, is fucking spot-on.No apologies (but y'all knew that) for the Kelly Clarkson or the Damone track. My love for Ms. Clarkson has been documented round here before and that Damone track is a mighty fine cover of the classic Billy Squier tune. Links for download available through the usual channels or by request.

This looks great, Shawn. I don't share your love for Ms. Clarkson (or Billy Squier, for that matter), but hey, to each his own--we agree on so much else, who cares? :-) Fine picks all around, though, particularly the Ghostface, Dizzee, Black Mountain, King Tubby and Monster Magnet.

You know how I feel about the KC madness. Soothing riffs. ;) And before I go, I'm gonna drop a special shout out for the no-neck track. Why? Because if you have to ask, you can't afford it. I don't even know what that means.

Looking good Shawn. The Parlor where I have gotten a couple of tatoos has The Jesus Lizard posters all over the place but I have yet to check them out. I am going to check out The Grails because I have yet to disappointed by anything valis has recommended (I am currently spending a lot of time with Rockfour thanks to a valis tip).

Black Mountain and King Tubby do it for me, especially . . .

We all have a Kelly Clarkson in our closet. I mean, not literally. Not any more. And besides, nobody could pin me on those charges!

Anyhoo, I made a roundabout confession to liking Norah Jones on my last mix. I wish more folks would come out of the closet with their dirty little musical secrets!

Oh, and what I know here -- which isn't a lot -- I'd surely like to hear.

That didn't make sense. You'd think I'd been drinking. What I DON'T know I'd surely like to hear. Hic.

Awesome! No-Neck Blues Band, Dizzee Rascal and Kelly Clarkson on the same mix certainly warrants the title "Mixed Genre"

Damn good. Afraid I haven't heard enough of Ms Clarkson to have made an informed judgment, but Tubby/Dizzee et al do it for me!

I always live the atmosphere and vibe of your mixes. This is no exception - I love your Dizzee and Liars picks, and will definitely be checking out a few more MySpace pages for choons now. Great stuff!
