Are Ye Dancin'? Are Ye Askin'?
Comment:
The poser "Are ye dancin'"? and the response "Are ye askin'"? according to local legend is pretty much how every marriage in Ireland came about in bygone days. My own parents are unable to deny that they took part in that very banter. Lesson 1 here is the waltz and I intend to make a mini series, until i run out of dances or motivation, whichever comes first. Barrydali's Tango class is coming soon, beginners welcome. I hope you enjoy this one. It's good to be back.
Feedback:
Welcome back, Barry - good to see you haven't lost your mixing skills. Can't say I'm very fond of waltzes in general (a Johann Strau¯/growing up in Vienna-induced trauma), but the ones you've picked out here are undeniably fantastic. I think I'll just listen to them quietly in my corner and let others do the dancing, though.
This looks great, Barry. Welcome back!
This is wonderful! And it's great to see you back. Tango huh? Can't wait to see it. Will you do a polka mix? How about the Mashed Potatoes?
i've been wondering where the hell you've been, good man -- it's great to see your time away wasn't spent diminishing your mixing skills. this is fantastic -- i'm particularly fond of tracks 2, 3, 9 & 18...
I'm playing a dance at the YMCA next week for about (60) 70-year-old couples (the Geriatric Mosh Pit) with my Big Band, this'll get me right in the mood.
slightly disappointed not to find neil young's "the old country waltz" here but townes and leonard more than make up for it. very nice!
Hey, hey, Barrydali! Back By Nope Demand. I jest of course, we missed you here last month. A great way to start '07, a mix I can't wait to hear. You've even included an Elliot Smith track ( my favourite no less ), although after scanning the playlist 3 times I STILL can't see Englebert Humberdink's 'The Last Waltz', surely some mistake??
At last I can stop feeding this bloody calf! Barry's back from Africa. Rejoice and make merry, let the party commence! As for this mix, well I just know it's great. To paraphrase the Centurion (played by Ernest Borgnine in the movie, folks) in a conversation with the big JC: only show me the tracklist, and I know it shall be great -- well, you get the picture, and even of you don't it doesn't matter cos Barrys back and all is well with the world. Woohoooooo!!!!
hello stranger !I never realsed that there were so many waltzes available . . . (but not The Band ?)
Ahhhh, you killed my current mix. Yet, this is much better than what I had ready. Looking forward to a very very good listen. Although I made previous mention about a possible MOTW, I think I just made up my mind.
1-2-3 well done
Very, very VERY nice, sir.
You've been watching too much of that fucking celebrity dance shite on TV! Liverbirds'l come & get ya!!! Still nice one 'Matilda,' like the inclusion of St.Thomas & Thievery Corporation. Good to see you back mon ami.
Steve Mcqueen in the Sand Pebbles? Know some here - a great themed mix & nice to see ya back!
1-2-3, 1-2-3, welcome back, B-dal-i.
I love waltzes.
Firstly, welcome back! Second, this great. I notice a lot of waltzes though.., and the Leonard Cohen is a heartbreaking fav' of some duration..lead or follow?
Back in fine style! Great mix.
Welcome back sailor boy. I love waltzes and you've got quite a collection here. Love the Cohen, Holy Modal Rounders, Hawk and a Hacksaw and Jolie Holland picks especially.
Barry... one question:
Are ye mixin'?
Are ye mixin'?
The waltz is alive and swinging! Quite a fascinating-looking collection.
Great stuff, Barry. A wonderful variety of all things waltzy.
I like to waltz, and I like this mix. Great stuff, Barry.
