Comment:
It's been almost 5 months since I posted an acoustic themed mix and well basically thats too long I'd say, but then again I would wouldn't I? This one follows the template I used throughout 2006, i.e all tracks are from records released this year. The difference with this one is that the vocalists are all ladies, well they are certainly all female, having never met any of them I can't hand on heart vouch for their virtue. It sounds lovely to me regardless.Feedback:
Looks gorgeous Barry. Am I remembering right, that you moved back to Ireland? How's it goin?
some artists i'm familiar with but as usual i'm out of the loop - but I can imagine this sounds beautiful.
Have Eleni playing now - that is torchy! Looks beautiful, Barry.
my girlfriend traveled far & wide recently to see a rickie lee jones show, & her verdict was a good one. as for the rest of this, i'm with dom -- don't know much, but i'd imagine it's well put together given the mixer. i'll try to give it a spin soon.
A treat for sure, especially 12,15,18,20 & 22.
I'm feeling so out of the loop now. I love the few that I know and have very high expectations for those that I don't. I have no doubt that this is going to be quite wonderful. Thanks, Barry.
Wonderful stuff Barry!
Milenasong is fuckin' class. I just got her debut LP the other day. Her 10" EP is great also.
Barry. A fantastic looking mix.
Blasikin got a facelift! one of the most beautiful mixes I've heard in a while, Barry. haven't listened to Tarnation in a long time, so was great to hear her here. and I really liked the Emma Pollack/Louise Welsh to Kristen Hersh part. absolutely lovely! it has been too long, indeed.
Such a Beautiful Mix. Every track is wondeful. Love the Opener, must check out more by her. I'm in Love with Carla Bruni also..
Gave this gem an end-to-end listen and can now add that it not only looks but also sounds beautiful.
Etiquette question for tornado: is it polite to point out that
Blasikin
got a facelift, or should we just act natural?

My only request, and it would be an imposition to be sure, would be to procure the individual tracks so I know who, precisely, I'm listening to, as there are so many new-to-me songstresses here. Loverly all the same. Many thanks for a look-see into what the real hipsters are listening to these days. Your taste has yet to let me down.
Nice picks from Shannon Wright, Rickie Lee Jones, Julie Doiron, and Yoko.
This is just gorgeous, Barry; a fantastic example of not only an acoustic mix but also a themed acoustic mix! Love most things Laura Veirs puts her hands to and, of course, the Rickie Lee Jones - there's a lot I don't know here too that I'm anxious to check out.
Siobhan as ever says it all, so I don't need to bother! Thanks for the download link.
MoTW candidate, right here! Frikkin' Awesome!!!!
fantastic
Post-listen comment: Absolutely incredible, even more so than I'd expected, if that's even possible.
PS: Also, I just saw the Frames play and I have to say the hype wasn't entirely unjustified.

This looks incredible. Sorry I missed it earlier. I've been listening to lots of this stuff recently while putting together a series of "ladies night" mixes for my brother's bar.
oops. thought I'd clicked on the mp3 for your new mix, and was trying to mark my favorites on the tracklist: was wondering if that one about Silvia was called "Shipwreck?" "Do What You Gotta Do?" then there was a song about June Carter Cash. could that possibly be called "Paula Ausente?" oh wait. looks like I accidentally clicked on the original Birdsong mp3, so that explains it. well I don't mind in the least 'cause I'm enjoying this all over again. new favorites are "Silvia" and "Bring Me a Song." and now I'm looking forward to that run of songs toward the end that I enjoyed so much the first time around, and I'll report on your new one when I actually listen to it for reals.
