Comment:

another mix for the girl who makes my life infinitely brighter -- part romantic, part whimsical. this is still filed under the "romantic" category, even if i wasn't strictly so mushy or serious in execution this time around: alot of the songs are light & bouncy as opposed to smolderingly passionate. i even decide to break from love song tradition altogether a few times, mostly because i felt like the songs fit really well & that she would really like them (which is what love is all about, right? sharing!). this one careens stylistically, which normally i wouldn't take to but here i feel really holds together strongly -- it starts off with a country twang before segueing into sprightly pop territory, then hits a long acoustic middle stretch before a couple soulful tracks, until we fade out with a few sweet, wistful pop songs (always good closers). a bit far-reaching perhaps, but i think it came out okay.

a big thanks to signor barrydali for the sweet & wistful (& excellent & wonderful) postmarks track.

title from the w.b. yeats poem, "he gives his beloved certain rhymes."

Just reading that VU title is enough to get that song stuck in my head for a few days! Not that I'm complaining, of course. Looks very, very nice, Anthony. Good (if unnecessarily defensive ;)) explanation, too.

This is great. Just for the record, when you see that Kinks song on my next SwankLove mix, I want you to know that I've been planning to use it for months.

That is my absolute favorite Ray Charles song, and the rest is pretty spiffy as well.
