Comment:

Ah, the wonder of the female voice! I don't think it's just gender bias, I think the great women singers really do have more range and variety than their male counterparts. But okay, I have my biases, too, clearly on display here.

So, these songs are mostly romantic classics (though 11 & 12, at least, are anti-romantic), & there could be a story line here too, but really they could all be singing about beans & rice; for me, it's those voices !

Eartha, Lena, Dinah and Blossom... some of my favorites here. looking forward to the possibility of one day hearing some of these that I'm not so familiar with (Cleo, Alberta, Helen and Nan, for instance). your mixes are always lots of fun, and in this case, with all these incredible women's voices... let's just say I'm happy about the whole thing.

This is really good, but I can't imagine trying to recreate it. Any chance for a link or trade?

Many, Many favorites here, Ella , Nina, Billie. Beautiful women, beautiful voices all. I love female vocalists, I had a dream that Elis Regina was singing to me last night.

Super mix, old friend. I too am biased towards the female species when it comes to singing (and let us not forget romance). Great to see a double dose of Dearie.

I'm a sucker for these classics . . . excellent . . . but couldn't you have squeezed Julie London on ? (she whispers in my ear, you know !)

Lot to dig hear Joey. I particularly enjoy the female voice the further back in time you go. Seems to me they just don't make female vocalists like they used to. But then I may be a bit biased (being the Retro kind of guy that I am).

Joey, To quote Blossom, I hear some mighty fine music here. All are wonderful but would it be too controversial if I name Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan as the class acts of the bunch? Others that especially caught my ear were 9 (taking orders is so-o sexy, even a reference to discipline), 16 (calling Fats Waller), and 18 (counting money is not a topic I've heard sung lately). And the closer with Ella singing scat takes the cake. Thanks for the trade, and keep up the great mixes!
