Comment:

This mix is probably about five years old. I checked out Steve Earle after hearing Emmylou Harris' version of Goodbye on Wrecking Ball and I immediately hated Steve Earle. It took awhile to get used to his voice and his music, but now Steve Earle is one of my favorite artists, and Goodbye is one of the few songs where I prefer the original to Emmylou's cover version. Goodbye is my definite favorite Steve Earle song (and probably my second favorite song of all time, after Gram Parsons' A Song For You). Usually, on mixes, Goodbye is a natural ending song, but Steve Earle has so many slow, depressing songs that on here Goodbye fits right in the middle! My other Steve Earle favorites include The Other Kind, Have Mercy, and My Old Friend The Blues. This is not meant to be an Essential Steve Earle disc, and I know I have omitted some of what are considered to be his best songs, but this is just meant to be songs of Steve Earle's that I like the best. One day, I might make a Steve Earle mix with more of his older stuff, but probably not.

I need to do one of these. Lots of choice picks here .... although my alltime fav is "The Kind" from Jerusalem which I consider an almost perfect song. Well done
