Comment:
Hey, I know this is a dumb idea, but when a dumb idea takes hold of you, what the hey!
At least it's not a totally indiscriminate hey-ride: I filtered out the country & folky & sensitive singer-songwriter "hey" songs, so this is just the dumb rocky & R&B ones. I think the end result is pretty brainless & rocking, but I haven't tried it out on anyone else yet, so I may be biased.
When I was little I must have said "hey" a lot, because my older & much more sophisticated cousins would always interrupt me with the remark that "Hay is for horses." This mix is my long-awaited revenge for that put-down.
P.S. purists will be fascinated to know that the Detroit Cobras & Mickey Lee Lane tracks are really the "same" song, but the two tracks titled "Hey Little Girl" are completely different tunes. The two versions of "Hey Boy Hey Girl" are the "same" song, but not really the same at all, if you know what I mean. "Hey Lupe" is a demented high-energy Spanglish version of "Hang On Sloopy". The two tracks that share the title "Hey Now" are about as different as two songs can be. Just goes to show how little a track list really conveys, eh?

Feedback:
hey dude, hey like Wow! (and there are a boatload of classics here!) Oh, and keep on truckin'
Hey, now! Hey, now, don't dream ... y'know, y'know, y'know!
You're throwin a hey-maker fer sher. Worth it for the Brave Combo / Tiny Tim track alone.
Hey now! Only thing missing here is that Ben Vaughan track "Hey Man Hey" - bet it would fit nicely.....volume 2 maybe....
Hey, hey, my my, rock and roll will never die . . .
Great collection, as always.
nothing wrong with some dumb rock & r&b every now & then -- in fact, it's a helluva lot of fun -- lots of classics overflowing this one
Wow, thats some crazy archiving going on. Looks like a lot of fun.
You have been making hey while the sun shines.
Well, you know I love Hey Lupe, and the rest looks feeenomenal.
I'll try and avoid a 'hey' joke and quite simply state that this is marvllous. I also love 'Hey Lupe', thanks to Mixxer for that one if I do recall.. Looks fantastic:)
I definitely don't heyt this, in fact I heyl you for it. Won't you st-hey around a while and say heyllo sometime?
Hey Joe. My favorite "hey" song is "Martial Law (Hey Man...Smell My Finger) by George Clinton. Then again you have a lot better taste than me.
Again, not my favorite type of mix, but this is a top-notch example of a theme mix that works. Great choices and a rawkin' atmosphere make this one of the best mixes I've seen here this week.
"I definitely don't heyt this, in fact I heyl you for it. Won't you st-hey around a while and say heyllo sometime?" - Oh Missingno. WookOne frowns down on you. With eyes full of hey-tred and a merc-hey-less cold. Hussssk.
Nice Mix.
Nice Mix.
So impressive! You have Done Well...
Wonderful!
very nice !
Everything you create is a pure delight. Hang On Sloopy is one of my favorite songs ever & and a demented high-energy Spanglish version of it sounds delectable. It's getting late here but I think I'll go out and walk around the neighborhood like the guy in your cover picture.
Damn! I thought I commented on this. I thought I said something like,"I'd love to take a trip on this hey-ride," so perhaps you deleted the comment;) Yes, I'm always up for an old school mix trade via snail mail. I'll check your archives and see what I like best.
