Comment:
Music that makes me happy, music that makes me pensive. Notes:I didn't really appreciate "Who Loves the Sun" or the Loaded album generally until I listened to it start to finish one May afternoon five years ago in a Seattle bar.
Beautiful music, creepy lyrics, and the boy soprano vocals are somewhere inbetween.
From the soundtrack to the Wim Wenders film "The End of Violence."
Because Big Star rules.
The original and still amazing.
Deep in the gospel groove.
A different kind of groove, but I believe still related.
A different kind of devotion.
The first time I heard this track the hair stood up on my head and I shouted out loud. When I was in college I wanted more than almost anything to be able to sing like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and here was this white boy who was doing it--and providing his own accompaniment in traditional style to boot.
A direct line, I suspect, between Asha and Nusrat, though I don't understand her words so I can't tell.
Much of the rest is good love-gone-wrong music that carries out the blues under the gospel and devotional of the first half.
Feedback:
I love the sun and this mix.
Awesome. Well done, and fine mix for a mighty fine sis.
