not really a swooning romantic mix. this was made in february for my long-distance sweetheart (who is no longer distant, geographically or otherwise!), who wasn't seeming so sweet on me then. at the time i made this, i was destroyed, self-critical, lonely and confused, and feeling at a loss to communicate what i was going through. as usual, my mix has a bit of a strange turn, as when i go into the Pop Group and Faust, but hey, it kind of works... The first half is really just to set the mood. By song 8, I think I really hit a good stride sonically. There's a little bit of logic to tie the songs together. I'm uploading the playlist because I haven't been keeping track of my mixes. What's funny is that even though the relationship I'm in feels more stable, I still get sad looking at this tracklist. I was trying so hard, it seemed. Looking for a lifeline. As such, the title of this mix (from Howling Hex) seems very fitting.
