Comment:
My daughter is 5 years old, and I'm trying to expose her to as much different music as I can, as long as she is willing to listen. Among others, I've created an American Folk Song mix and an Appalachian mix, both of which are often used in our car. This time I put together something with a bit more of a jazz and big band flavor. "The Bear Necessities" (from The Jungle Book), "Potato Chips," and "Papa Loves Mambo" are already favorites of hers, and she is warming up to some of the other tunes, too.Slim Gaillard is represented with several tracks. I only recently discovered this unique artist for myself, and I had to smile when I found out that I had known one of his songs since my childhood: As a kid in Switzerland I had been singing a German translation of "Down by the Station," a song apparently written by Gaillard.

Feedback:
Crunchy goodness
"bear necessities" is a favorite of my own - lucky daughter you've got
All my favorite tunes! (& I bet I would have liked them at age 5 too, if I'd only had an early intro like this one)
this is pretty sweet. what an awesome parent you are!
I like it....And I'm pretty sure my kids would really dig it too!
Ella and Bing and Louis and Nat at 5. What a great way to start a lifetime of love for music. Kudos.
I'm in the mood....
Cool. I get great pleasure introducing my daughter to differnt musical genres, currently she's going through a big Beatles phase (though she calls them the Beatle Bugs & I think it's so cute I haven't the heart to correct her) Influence em young mon ami.
Absolutely terrific stuff and a lot of it new to me. Danke Claude.
Best mix ever made for a 5-year-old. You're providing a good influence for her. Hopefully she'll be a "chip" off the old block.
Looks fun.

Now this is a mix my little girl is gonna LOVE. And her Daddy too. Your recent run of mixes are delighting me, Claude. Thank you :)
this looks absolutely superb!
Beautiful and looks a load o' fun! Polyunsaturated goodness.
The title track is just smiles and smiles, and I'm glad to hear 5 year olds are into Slim. This is wonderful!
Yummy! this mix really hits the spot.
don't have kids of my own, but I almost want to go out and get one somewhere just so I can play great music for him/her - like this mix here. you've got a lucky 5-year-old whose probably going to be the coolest kid in kindergarten. my mother used to sing "Down By the Station" and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" to me when I was a tot, and you never forget those wonderful associations. lots of great and crazy stuff here, like the opener, all the Slim Gaillard songs and that wonderful Mills Brothers ditty.
Brills! This compilation looks as tasty as those crisps. With music such as this in the home child rearing should be breeze!
P.S. Are those Old Bay seasoned crisps?
