Comment:

A scoop of pop/wave from 1980-1983 taken from a stack of K-Tel LPs. Nuff said.

Always great to see you on the boards, good sir. This is *definitely* early '80s K-Tel in a nutshell. As far as my personal taste goes, I love 1, 4 and 7; like (with some small hesitation) 3 (although that and the chorus of "Rio" are the sum of my Duran Duran appreciation), 6, 10, 12-15, 19 and 22-23. The rest I could do without...

Some highs and some lows but certainly a snapshot of the time. Right smack in the middle of my barroom dj days and a few of these were in high rotation.

I heart this, the 80s and K-Tel Records which, by the way, is a Canadian company. It was started in Winnipeg ~ home of Winnie the Pooh and Guess Who.
Who knew?

Saaf with a snapshot. All memorable, some good, some not so...(though I'd bet the French Connection would dance like a Pavlovian puppet to that JoBoxers track. Jus' sayin'...)

Love this. And, though trite, that is the best cover art!!!! May inquire, who is the artist/source?

ah, sweet memories !

i sorta figured k-tel for a canadian shop seeing how every one of their LP's seemed to match the cancon quota of the day ;)

Has someone been to the swap meet/thrift stores? Me and Mark Goodman give it a thumbs up. Are those the guys from Erasure on the cover? I always knew there was something a bit off about them.

gee, wait long enough and everything becomes nostalgia? I wish I did not like this '80s stuff... but I do.

If only you could see the gay dance I'm doing right now in remembrance of these songs. I can't tell where respected '80s hits end and cheesy '80s hits begin, all I see is 23 blasts from my favorite moments in the past. Even ones I never cared for as much (Girls on Film, Down Under, Hold Me Now) would be fun to listen to in this context. And speaking of Erasure...no Yazoo? Volume 2, perhaps? Great job!
