Comment:

Background: It began with a never-ending search of an unknown 80's Soundtrack Closer.Having listened to Lansing-Dreiden's "A Line You Can Cross" for the umpteenth time, I noted an uncanny 80's-esque soundtrack vibe. I began recalling all of these incredible 80's cult-classics. You know the ones: - Gotcha! (which sported tunes by Bronski Beat and Freddy Goes to Hollywood, btw) - Real Genius (which featured "I'm Falling" by the Cosmat Angels and the classic "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" by Tears for Fears)... and other overlooked gems such as Loverboy and Three O'Clock High OR the incomparable, Weird Science.Oh, I can go on and on and on..on..on...on...in Max Headroom FashionBut...I digress. Alas, I never could locate, nor identify, this unknown song (if it even exists...and a gnome's bounty for the one who can point me the right direction) and this journey took me far afield, but the result has been rewarding.Presented, here, is a collection of synth-pop, synth-punk, art-wave, new-wave and neo-electro items which will hopefully brighten your evening, albeit in shades of fuschia.Link available...

After a few oddly misdirected tries with megaupload (once I got directed to a spanish language porn manga site!) this is on it's way down to my computer. It looks delicious!

The spanish language porn manga site was the link. How odd that some of you are actually downloading music.... ;)If you have problems getting this...drop me a line and I'll reup via other method.

It began with a never-ending search of an unknown 80's Soundtrack Closer.Which movie??? Can't wait for the download... Certain soundtracks qualify (IMHO) as works of sheer genius in and of themselves. For me, the soundtracks for Pump Up The Volume and Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure are Must Have's... PUTV introduced me to Leonard Cohen, albeit there was that Concrete Blonde cover of Everybody Knows on the disc, I just HAD to hear the original, and fell hopelessly in love shortly thereafter, and Big Pig shows up in the background of nearly every family video I shot at the time.In fact, recently, we were watching an old home video, and I Can't Break Away showed up 5 times in what was 5 separate events. I said, "Man, I still love that song...And the fam damily nearly lynched me!

Funny, I was searching for a Spanish Mango recipe when I stumbled onto AOTM six years ago....
I've made no secret of my profound loathing for most 80's music but the Chemical Brothers, LCD and Ladytron cuts (as well as my history with all mixes Gnome-ular) have piqued my curiosity.

80s soundtracks. What would life be like without them? Some great songs have been hidden away on them -- but fortunately they end up on compilations. XTC and REM come to mind. Anyway, I'll use my neon judgement and rule this a fabulous mix. Long live the gnome!

I'm still not sure about the '80s. My memory says that the music was crap compared to now (and I certainly never liked Duran Duran - even now actually) . . . having said that, you've got some crackers on here . . . .

Actually, I love 80s music and of course I love this mix. Gonna whack this on my Ipod now. That opening quartet looks a bit great. Along with the Ladytron * Human League...

Ah, anything with an 80s soundtrack vibe is pure heaven to me. I love Units and the entire So Young But So Cold compilation, and I loved Lansing-Dreiden's first release but haven't heard any others. So thanks very much for the download.

Fad Gadget played a gig at my school back in '79 (they were awful) Fuschia's good by me, though the 80's didn't start until The Stone Roses in my world, then as now I just locked myself in the 60's for the most part and lived life in my own little bubble. Goes without saying therefore that this sleuth ain't gonna be of any assistance to ya but wishin' you well on the case mon ami.

"...and I'll soon let you know..." did I write that? well, I pulled this from the archives the other day and finally gave it a spin and it's incredible. favorites were Soft Cell, Silicon Teens, Moderne, Lansing-Dreiden... but best of all is the LCD Soundsystem track. when I get paid I'm gonna buy that CD and put "Get Innocuous" on every mix I make from now on until I die. just see if I don't! it kicks serious neon ass.
