Comment:

When I get to flying backwards in the musical time machine I often land in the 1940's, I couldn't say just why. Pop music reached some kind of crest before subsiding into the dreadful trough of the 50's, I guess - anyway here's some good times from 60-odd years ago, & it still sounds fresh!

All right indeed! Can't clown around with a frown when you're walking on the sunny side of the street. Some classic tunes here.

when it comes to music of the '40s, I think I've mentioned my grandmother's Reader's Digest record set about a dozen times on this site, so I won't talk about it again. let me just say that my affinity for The Andrews Sisters led me to all sorts of wonderful things from that fabulous decade. love the (or any, really) Doris Day track, and "Bounce Me Brother With a Solid Four" is the best song title ever, is it not? this mix is great fun; five stars whether you like it or not.

Pre-rock 'n' roll music is quite underappreciated around here (especially by me)... this is a nice testament to the greatness of the 40s era.

The last time I time traveled back to the 40's I got a beer bottle smashed over my head and thrown in jail....who am I kidding ? That could happen to me in any decade. I love listening to this stuff, If you listen , the musicianship is really quite astoundingly good. Alot of talented individuals and songs that stand up over time.

The 40s pop revival begins here. Swinging trombones and licorice sticks never go out of style. I need a copy to play in my jalopy;)
