Comment:
Some of my favorite Bob Dylan songs before he became Judas ;) I think Bob Dylan's genius is so evident in these songs. I love Bruce Springsteen too, and will eventually get around to making a Boss Folk mix, but if you compare the two, well, there really is no comparison. I think with Springsteen's folk songs, while they are great too, you can almost feel the strain and effort he has put into composing them, and a lot of them have a kind of matter-of-fact air of resignation to them, like that's just the way it is. With Dylan's folk songs, you can feel more of the raw anger, the words seem to flow effortlessly, and there is a real passion and idealism in his songs -- before he became disillusioned and turned the back pages, I guess. . . Regardless, these songs are still an inspiration today. All-time favorites include Don't Think Twice, The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, Boots of Spanish Leather, and Lay Down Your Weary Tune.Feedback:
Very nice.
Very good selections. Plenty of evidence of his genius (and I don't use that word lightly).
Been wanting to find more Boss folk or acoustic-based songs, so I'll look forward to that mix.
