This is very special to me because it has Lila Downs and she is my role model. I was born in Mexico to a Mexican mom and American dad just like her. She also reminds me a lot of Frida Kahlo because she dresses in the traditional dresses of Mexico. On the other songs, my great uncle used to scare the wits out of my dad with Caballo Diablo when my dad was five years old. There are so many lloronas because we saw a movie called that last night. Miguel BosT and La Uni=n are favorites of my mom's, Julieta Venegas and Javier Mendoza too. Even though there are some titles that are in English, those come from the influence of my dad (hard to tell, I know). He also said that you have to have Caifanes on this kind of CD. And even though I thought Charly Garcfa sounded too much like Dylan, my dad put him on here. My dad also showed me his CD of music from Dfa de los muertos (my dad says it is called Suenen tristes instrumentos: Cantos y m·sica sobre la muerte from Fonoteca del INAH (The Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History)). I loved it because it reminded me of the olden days in Mexico eating sugar skulls (calaveritas). My Halloween costume this year is not a calavera, but a diablita, close enough anyway. This Frida picture that I chose was because we have it in our living room and it used to freak me out. Frida would FOLLOW me with her eyes around the room. My dad likes the picture because he always calls me Monkey (as you can tell from our mixes).
