One of my personal limitations is a low tolerance for sorrowful, downtempo, minor-key music. On the other hand, I do love a classic female vocal, and so many of the greatest of those are minor-key laments that it gets me past my prejudices, & just for the sheer beauty of the music I can wallow in the woe for a while.
