Comment:
Another of the infamous high school era mixes that I've unearthed since the move from Oxford to upstate. The story behind this particular compilation is that a friend gave it to me during a bus ride to a soccer game and said "This is a rap mix someone gave me, can you listen to it and tell me if it's any good?" Yeah, I know. Makes a lot of sense, right? So, I listened to it and decided to make a copy of it at my sister's house (She was one of the only people I knew at the time who could provide ready access to a cd burner.). Before I copied it, however, I decided to mash in some Swollen Members, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon tracks. What was I thinking? Why in the world would I think that those artists would mesh well with the originals at all? Whatever. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Today, I'm still not sure exactly who made that original mix, the track listing of which is illustrated here. Listening to it four years later, it coheses surprisingly well...in the way only a sloppily constructed mixed cd composed of pirated mp3's can. (Note: What was that Jedi Mind track doing at the end of this mix?)
