Comment:
Birthday present for my partner. RE: The mix title. It's absurd enough to be endearing, as are some of the more off the wall tracks. Hopefully. I suppose I'll find out tomorrow when I give it to her. :)It's hard for me to do anything romantic while keeping things upbeat. To do so, I tend to reach back into big bands and jazz revivalists and I tried to do things with a little more rock this time around (see: The Bellyachers and True Margrit).
I have this subtitled as "A Love Story." Many of these songs aren't straight up sappy love ballads, and I'm actually a bit anxious to see if I can pull off a narrative mix that's tight enough to get the point (and actually be a worthwhile present), but loose enough that I'm not sleeping on the couch after the Dresden Dolls track.
Sitting in the middle of Iowa, I either get a blues scene or snatches of music elsewhere. I think this mix is a good example of my resultant schizoid tastes.
Feedback:
this is a cool idea. i like the dreden dolls track actually and the saraj mclachlan. Nice Mix
