like "wet earth," another itunes playlist working within the restrictions of a cassette: this time two 30 minute segments comprising 60 minutes. many of my best mixes, back in college, were made on 60 minute cassettes. it's novel to be able to construct mixes like this without having to worry about accidentally taping over monologue brainstorming.theme of the mix is personal and slightly inexplicable, related to the operation of rattling old-time dime machine scenes and the visual repetitions of joseph cornell. the title, "dime-store alchemy" is taken from the charles simic book of cornell vignettes and that feeling of intricate mystery and beautiful small objects was what i was hoping to achieve.
