Comment:
I made this mix tape on Feb. 15, 1993, my senior year in high school. I think that I sent a copy to my best friend, who was then living in England, and kept a copy for myself. It's really interesting to look back over this and remember what was going on at the time. Grunge had just arrived and affected even sheltered little me. "Pump Up the Volume" was possibly the greatest movie I'd ever seen. I had enough of a sense of humor to realize that "More Than Words" was not a love song, and enough of a sense of irony to love it for that. I still thought Jesus Jones was cutting-edge (gah), but sensed something bigger and deeper in the Pixies and Jane's Addiction. The lead singer of INXS was still alive. The Cure had just jumped the shark, but I didn't care. And I was waiting to find out about college acceptances and had no idea what lay ahead.Feedback:
Being the same age apparently (I too was a senior in '93, making mixtapes), this mix has quite a resonance with me. Awesome.
