Mix 'em great in '08!
Feedback:
Hardly a duff track amongst this lot mon ami. Track 19 does my head in but 19/20 can't be bad.
This is definitely an interesting enterprise that you keep up each year, good sir. It never fails to be educational.
Ah yes, I've been waiting for this. I don't think I've ever used a single track from this (might be wrong) Does that make me unhip? or hip? Bah, I don't care anyways. Thanks for doing this again although 2007 leads to a blank page on the site. Oh well patience is a virtue...
Thank you very much for the stats.
Very cool of you to do this. On the other hand, none of these are songs I've used or considered using (and to be honest, that Death Cab For Cutie song makes me sort of ill, so there's that), so like Barry I'm either hip or unhip. I'm OK with either, really.
i was looking forward to this, thanks for the stats - & at least 3/4 of this list is excellent - my favorites are the smiths, camera obscura, shins, NMH & joy division
Thanks for these interesting stats. I'm so unhip or hip that I not only never have used any of these songs on my mixes, but also never even have heard almost half of them. :-)
don't think I contributed to the AotM Greatest Hits list, but I do have a few of those in my collection, so looks like I've got hips. happy to see "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" surged into the top 20 this year, and that the Joy Division tune is still holding strong after all these years. I love statistics, Saaf, so thanks for hooking me up! onward into 2008...
I've been waiting eagerly for this mix to pop up!! Thanks for 'em!!
I've been waiting to see how I stacked up in 2007. As usual, none of the songs from my mixes appear on the top AOTM picks of the year. But, I was glad to see that I tied for 6th place for the number of total posts for the year. Thanks for the work that goes into your recaps!
Hey, I even used a couple of these top 20 in mixes this year.
Always a treat to check out the statistics, and many thanks to you for crunching the numbers.
By the way you have a little bug that treats ampersand as different from the word "and," and thus gives separate counts for (as an example) "Tiily and Wall" and "Tilly & Wall."
But I definitely love the stats.

What they all said, thanks for pulling this together, it is like heroin for the music addicts that we are. Here's to an upswing in 2008...
the highlight of the aotm year. let me add my thanks to the clamor. anyone have any thoughts about the steep decline? i am having more fun than ever here. my new years resolution is to post more mixes.
This really appeals to me. Will be checking out your other lists.
Thanks again for the stats. Always look forward to these. About the posting decline... I'm guilty. In past years I posted 40 to 70 mixes but have really slacked off the past couple of years. I mentioned in another post that I thought my decline had something to do with spending too much time managing my collection rather than doing what I really like which of course is making mixes. My new years resolution therefore is to double my mix posting output for this year.
Interesting stats...many thanks for compiling them!
This is very interesting stuff, thanks for sharing! I had no idea I had joined long after the site's heyday. I'd like to think though that people are putting more time into fewer mixes.
Was really looking forward to this, actually used 3 of these tunes on mixes last year. Thanks for doing this.
Really interesting. Although none of these songs appeared on any of my '07 mixes, it is nice to see strong showings from some of my old standards from mixes of old.
Many, many thanks for compiling these end of year stats Saaf, it's certainly appreciated by us all. The resulting mix is pretty decent - but it's the effortyou yourself puts in that should be applauded..
"SUFJAN STEVENS: Chicago"
I put ALL the versions of this track on one mix... hahaha

thanks for the stats, always fun to check them out!
As a statistics junkie, I just have to say Fantastic Job! Thanks!
I always look forward to this one.
Much respect for putting this all together, Saaf. Didn't know that that Camera Obscura track was so popular around these parts.
I look forward to this every year, Saaf, thank you again. Great to see that NMH just won't go away - through this list is exactly how I first discovered them so long ago. And hey, I almost made the top 20 this year! I thought I'd be a lot lower considering the decline in my submissions. Just not enough time anymore, unfortunately. But it's a great memory lane trip to be reminded of everyone who helped make this site so terrific for another year. Keep it up guys, I'm honored to be remotely in your company!
I never commented on this? Damn. I'm such a loser. Once again, the AOTM community and I look forward to your year in review. Always interesting to see what the kids are listening to, and what songs continue to show up in the top 20 and beyond. Would Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith be in the top 10 if AOTM was around in 1973? Who's going to be there in 2018? Now if we could only get you to post more of your own mixes!
