Comment:
According to Larousse, the arrabal refers to a barrio outside of the main part of a city. Arrabalero can also be translated as vulgar or unrefined or as belonging to the popular or working classes.
This is a small tribute to my father and growing up in Mexico City (the D.F.), the memories that I have and sometimes share are bohemian and deliciously arrabaleros.íViva MTxico!
Feedback:
ííííME ENCANTA!!!! ííííTE QUIERO HASTA LA LUNA!!!!
I saw Drexler and then the penny dropped, great mix senorita. Keep an eye on the Doowad and the Doowadette, they are always up to mischief ;)
"It's a family affair..."
Only know a few of these artists but it looks great.

looking forward to investigating this one.
What they all said
ika rumba. My kind of mix. íViva MTxico! indeed!!
Very nice! I like that Maldita Vecindad song and might use it in a mix soon. ;-) I skipped over the Ricardo Arjona song 'cause everyone knows that his songs are for girls. As for Chavela Vargas, although my Spanish comprehension is pretty lousy, it sounded like she actually does refer to an "arrabal" - was i hearing things?
This one will be an education for me...looking forward to giving it a listen.
a wonderful listen, ika. favorites are the Jarabe de Palo, Mecano, Javier Mendoza and Chavela Vargas tracks... but I loved that Lila Downs number most of all. I've seen her CDs around, but hadn't heard them. it's a lovely song. there are few things better than a Mexican musical mix, in my opinion. thanks!
