Comment:
here we have the latest in my series of mixes for my wonderful girl. its delivery was supposed to coincide with valentine's day but unfortunately & quite predictably it's going to be late - this has actually been the longest gap between mixes that there's been since i met her two & a half years ago. in a way i guess that's a bit disheartening, but when looking at the larger picture i think i prefer it this way: it makes the occasion that much more special & allows me that much more time to focus & enhance the final product. i started this one before christmas, so technically i've been working on it for roughly 3-4 months - but that's misleading, since i put it aside over the holidays & finished it up about a week ago. the overall vibe is very groovy, very R&B-driven, very girl group-esque, & of course filled with the kind of joyous pop that makes my heart beat. title taken from the wedding present song; subtitle taken from miss polly jean harvey. enjoy, everybody.Feedback:
Sweet. Several favorites and tried-and-true Conroy romantic mix staples here. :-)
Very nice! The Beat Happening, 6ths, and Ronettes tracks are my favorites...
this looks really great, anthony! love the pj, al green, ronettes, sam cooke, mmj, j&mc, ray charles and stevie wonder tracks, espceially. nice.
Isn't love grand....
This looks really sweet. I think she's gonna love it.
beautiful stuff, love the closer
I remember the days when I used to make Kathryn mix tapes. Not quite the same when you live together. This is a great mix, TV P's, Camera Obscura, M.Fields, Sandie Shaw....I wouldn't mind being your girlfriend but I think you'd be disappointed as my boobs are very under developed.
Happy V-Day, you romantic devil.
This is my motw Anthony. Great Otis and Dusty tracks, *totally* great S-la's/JMC pairing, loads of great stuff... one lucky girl.
Outstanding mix, Sir!!
I've seen Rupert's boobs, and while they're underdeveloped, they do have a very nice shape. But I digress. Oh yes, the mix. Lovely selections for your wonderful gal, with the ultimate love song tacked on the end. Love that 6ths tune too!
Like some modern-day Sam Cooke, this mix sends me.
Wonderful stuff. Love that 6ths tune, btw.
Did I tell you how much I enjoyed the mixes you sent me Anthony? Well I did a great deal. This one is certainly up there with your best - no mean feat. Love the girlies on here. And the sublime closer...
pj harvey is one of my favorite female singers, but also like the 6ths, Beat Happening, Magnetic Fields, Jesus & Mary Chain... looks like a good Valentine offering, whenever it's delivered.
Really lovely Ant. Love every single note here.
Really lovely Ant. Love every single note here.
Ah great stuff. How could she not love this?
Nicely put together, Anthony. I'm always a sucker for romantic mixes like this. You've picked out a lot of amazing songs on this one.
Not a bad apple in this bunch.
aw, i adore this mix!! all great tracks!
Lots to love here!
This is something I think I'd really like to hear!
Lots to love on this.
Ah, what a great one, from teh Ronettes to the Sam Cooke, My Morning Jacket, JMC and Ray. Well done, as always.
