Comment:
This January & February so far have been cold & gloomy, so if I'm ever going to make a melancholy downer mix, I guess now is the time. This does the mood, for me, for now, but I doubt it's something I'll pull out to play often -- much less give it to anyone, so I'm not sure I entirely see the value of making a depression-mix like this. Maybe just as a way of getting it out of my system?

Feedback:
perfect flipside to the mix george just posted, oddly enough - i'm a big fan of tons of this, as nothing really beats melancholy in music to me - love the ramones, tom waits, them, stones, kinks, lucinda, dylan...
Great soundtrack for our 5th ice-storm of the winter. Lots of favorites here.
Mm, I love that Lucinda Williams song.<3 Sara
Well, I like all this stuff and I have a fair share of these down mixes although as anthony points out I'm trying to find the sunny side with my latest mix. But I'm sure the melancholia will sweep back in because those broke downer blues make for great mixes.
this is something i'd pull out and play regularly. chock full of favorites.
I too, like George, really like this sort of stuff every once in a while. And this one isn't your typical melancholy mix. Very ecclectic and many absolutely underrated tunes.
joey de vivre goes glum? Say it aint so? .. but wait; this is really rather excellent - top marks for that Stones track alone..
I love 'miserable sod' music . . . and I love the look of this . . . loads of highpoints, but I'd pick Bob, Moby, Handsome Family, Ramones and Tom as favourites . . . so I guess that makes me a miserable old sod . . .
I like the looks of this. Incredible Rolling Stones pick.
Awesomely depressing. That pick reminds me of my old dorm room.
This is lovely. "8:05" is one of my all-time favorite songs, and there are plenty of others here that float my boat, as well.
This was broken down very nicely.
Listening to this mix would weaken my immune system and make me more vulnerable to a cold or a flu. It is that good.
Cheer up, joey, spring is right around the cornah.
Hmmm, two versions of "8:05," are there enough to, oh I better not say it.

Very nice. Try a sun lamp & vitamin C after this!
Really fantastic! Love the Dylan, Moby Grape, Prine, Kinks, Waits, and Them. Nothing like having just the right tunes to wallow in...
love that Slaid Cleaves song

Eeek,... out of character for you, indeed. Yeah, crappy weather brings us all down. Hope you're otherwise ok, pal.
This is beautiful Joey! Don't worry, we live in the SF Bay Area, the sun will be back before we know it.
Fit for purpose. That 9-13 is just perfect.
I'm sorry.
I love this, but then I am not surprised if it is from you, Jeff. Man, you make great cheerful mixes, but you also make beautiful gloom too. Hope things are looking up by now.
