Comment:

This is a mix inspired by the Danvers State Insane Asylum, the only building I have ever been afraid of. I was (un)lucky enough to visit the site in 2004, two years before it was demolished. And I'm still scared.

You can download the first disc and the second disc via links. If you'd like a 300dpi printable copy of the cover, just email me and I'll send it.

The opener up to De Krupps bit is pretty special although I've made a note to myself to give you a clip around the ear for those hideous NIN & Blunt picks. But hey thats just me. Love the Sixtoo and the Cat to home burst too. A hearty breakfast.

cool, very spooky. Insane asylums, yeah, there's a few spooky derelict ones around. Is this the one that is haunted with, like hundreds of ghosts? I saw a documentary on it, I think.

Scary & evocative.

We've gotta get out of this place, indeed.

Extra points for NOT including "They're coming to take me away", but I wonder if you considered the Move's "Cherry Blossom Clinic" for inclusion here ?

Jesus. (And that's certainly not a knock on the contents of this mix, which looks great...)

Insanely great. Interested in Side 2s opener, I'm assuming it's a cover. Shins, Portishead, FSoL and Bonnie Prince tracks are fine to name but 4 - though there are many many more.....

Nice! Especially like disc one (i.e. Waits, RL, Iron & Wine). Looove that RJD2 track as well.

the The Readers Recommend section of the Guardian newspaper did a feature on mental illness last week. Worth checking out for more songs on this theme if you're interested.

Personally, I'm partial to Waverly Hills in Louisville, but I get your point. Spooky. Great opener, and many more great tracks inclusive.

I want my living room to look like that. I bought a Die Krupps 12" many years ago. I used to play it loud to frighten the neighbours.

Warren Zevon on a Gabe mix? I am aghast at the thought. The closer on side one is one of my all-time favourites, though I am partial to the Randy Newman. And keep bringing that Radiohead, no matter what Cliff says.
