Comment:
What music would you want to be played at your wake? What songs wouldcelebrate your time on earth? That's the idea for the mix. Mind you, I am
in absolutely no hurry on this one - Hang the DJ, indeed - I have too much
to do. But for now, here are the songs that I'd like to be played at my
wake. Possibly a bit heavy on the emo/techno/piano with a few forced
laughs thrown in.
I'll bet if I put together the same mix in a few weeks/months it would be
entirely different. Even looking at the selections right now I realize
I've left out whole canons of music and have ignored major influences -
Beatles, Mountain Goats (thanks, Rob), Cat Power (thanks, Rob), Sigur Ros,
Sonny Boy Williamson and Bessie Smith, just to name a few. As for now,
here's what I want for the After-Party.
Happy Easter
Feedback:
This is gorgeous. Really. Probably my favorite of your mixes, my friend, and you're more than welcome for the tracks.
Some excellent choices here. Congrats on a great mix theme and many happy returns.
Yes, quite evocative, even for the living. Too many favorites to pick!
awaiting an invitation but willing to wait a long, looong, time.
nice concept nicely done.

How did I miss this? Thanks for posting a comment on mine so I would track this down. So much to love here, it is impossible to go wrong. Funny enough, just this evening, the wife and I were just talking about what we will say at the other's funeral. Needless to say, the commentary would be quite scatalogical. But on to your mix, anybody with Brel, Waller, Newman, Waits, Laurie, Fripp, and Joni is A-OK in my book. MOTW if I had noticed in time.
Oh, and Hoagy to boot! If you are up for an alt-dj, just drop me a line.
