Who's Sorry Now?
Comment:
31. Connie Francis- My Heart Has a Mind of It's Own
32. Connie Francis- Johnny Darlin'
33. Connie Francis- Robot Man
This one's for Sammyg123, who apparently likes Connie as much as I do!
I grew up listening to my parents' copy of Connie's Greatest Hits on
audio cassette and found that while some of her songs really appealed
to me (Stupid Cupid, V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N, Who's Sorry Now, Everybody's
Somebody's Fool), others just sort of got on my nerves (Lipstick On
Your Collar, Where the Boys Are).
My preference in the Connie songbook leans toward her upbeat, rocking
tunes... with the occasional maudlin ballad for balance. So that's what
I tried to recreate here: my favorite songs, mostly rockin',
interspersed with a few slow and sentimental (but not too sentimental) tracks.
At times, her vocal style is reminiscent of Patsy Cline, at others she
reminds me of Petula Clark (especially track 19), but no one belts out
"Who's Sorry Now" like Connie.
For those of you already familiar with her work, I hope this satisfies.
For those who aren't, give her a spin, you might be surprised.

Lipstick On Your Collar and Where the Boys Are, are faves of mine-as is the rest of this.
Have you ever heard the Saints do Lipstick On Your Collar?
It's Fab!
I do know someone who loves Connie. Thanks from her.
One of the greatest scores from my late grandmother's record collection was a Connie Francis LP. I think it's time I bust it out again....
Wow, my mother would sure like this.... I've always been at different to her, but I'll certainly have a listen.
I love 'Lipstick'- Connie's a swinger. Can ya do Connie Stevens next?
Oh yeah!!!! Awesome.
i'm with rob on both counts here
Terrific stuff Deanna, and many thanks for the nod. Oh, and of course the link, as I'm sure there's at least a dozen tracks here I don't have. My favourites are the ones you mentioned, Robot Man of course along with Too Many Rules and Telephone Lover.
I put a foreign language version of Stupid Cupid on my mix 'Carnaby Chic' be sure to check it out. And cheers again...

enjoyed this far more than I thought I would . . . thanks !
Sammy-- I heard it, and loved that version! I wonder if there are enough covers of her songs for an entire mix...
We all need a little more Connie in our lives! Thanks for posting -- and including a link. BTW, it's great to see regular posts from you here -- it's like you never went away.
"Stupid Cupid" is currently in my *dancing-around-the-livingroom-before-going-out* playlist - Connie's a very distinctive voice, with a very colourful life story. Fab.
BTsame, íííbTsame mucho!!!
Off the charts. This is just a smile-fest. MUCH thx!!!
