Comment:
Guess what- I've got a fever, and the only prescription is: more cowbell!
Feedback:
THANK YOU for starting this with "Honky Tonk Women," whose first thirty seconds are my favorite first thirty seconds of any song by anyone. Cool idea and great exe cution. No "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," huh?
What a great mix with such a limiting factor, but then we don't really expect any less.Doowad
Like a basic drum beat, the cowbell evokes a sort of primal reaction in me. Loves it!
Hell yeah! Great, great, great. For volume 2, there's a cool Matthew Sweet song with good use of cowbell. "Into your drug", I believe. Keep that cowbell fever alive! And hooray for Concrete and Clay - great single, if there ever was one.
Ironically, the most notorious of all cowbell songs may not even have any cowbell in it! Some think it's actually wood block percussion. I listened pretty carefully, and couldn't detect any metallic clang, so I decided to leave it off the mix. For what it's worth, it's pretty hard to distinguish between those two instruments. I later removed several tracks that I decided sounded more like wood block than cowbell. Maybe I'll put together a mix of songs with wood block percussion in the future.
Whoops! The song I was referring to is Blue ÷yster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper".
absolutely love it!! thanks for the download. :)
you took the words right out of my mouth!
Have you done a mix dedicated to the euphonium? Can only be a matter of time I suspect.
Many great songs have used the cowbell it seems. Great stuff.

Where is my Mississippi Queen? Ah, well, perhaps on CF2 ...
Great concept and mix. Lots of fun too.
Love the mix and, of course, it's your call whether or not to include "Don't Fear the Reaper" but according to this Washington Post article, the track does include a cowbell. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A46074-2005Jan28.html
Just thought you'd like to know.

Thanks! I hated to cut that track... so it will definitely be on the sequel!
I frickin' LOVE Concrete & Clay. And pretty much everything else on this damn great mix. Hurrah for Cowbells! Check out this mix
You really can't get enough cowbell.
Thanks for sharing. So damn great! (Though Pavement's "Silence Kid" is my favorite cowbell song after "HTW.")
this is megafun
No thud to this one.
Solex is the new Banarama! anyway, forgot to comment on this one after listening. fortunately, I still have my notes handy. really loved the Stevie Wonder, Sweet and Unit 4+2 tracks, and The Runaways, Solex, Blue Swede tracks were pretty great too. now on to volume 2!
